Five Different Types of Industrial Equipment

March 9, 2022

Industrial equipment is large objects most often made of steel used to produce a massive amount of goods or lifting substantial objects and is usually expensive to purchase. There are various types of industrial equipment; they vary based on the industry in which the equipment is being used.

Industrial equipment is quite dangerous; as such, it should be handled with utmost care and by professionals who can adequately operate the machinery to avoid accidents in the workplace. The equipment should receive regular maintenance checks to ensure that everything is in order. Equipment that is not in good working condition should not be used until a technician looks at it and gives the all-clear. Examples of industrial equipment include;

  • Bulldozers

This equipment is employed in the construction industry. Bulldozers are usually vast pieces of machinery, and they can help with lifting heavy parts on the construction site. They are also used in excavation by clearing up the soil present with the aid of a wide metal plate, and they can be used in razing down building structures. Bulldozers have been known to function in any weather condition.

  • Harvester

This piece of machinery is employed in the Agricultural sector. The harvester performs a series of functions that fast-track the harvesting process by reducing the work the farmer is supposed to act. The harvester reaps, winnows, and threshes. It is also used to gather up the grain.

  • Cranes

Cranes are industrial equipment used in moving heavy items from one spot to another. They are mainly used in the construction industry. The crane uses an arm to carry out its function, and its length is adjustable. There are various types of cranes; the carry deck crane is relatively tiny, and it is mobile, meaning it can move from one place to the other with ease. There is also the tower crane, which, unlike the carry deck crane, is affixed to a single spot; it, however, has a long mast with which it transports heavy-duty construction materials to where they are used. The tower crane is mainly used in the construction of high-rise buildings. Both the carry deck crane and tower crane have a cabin from which they can be operated.

  • Excavators

Excavators are the machinery used mainly in construction. The excavator has a boom, stick, and bucket to excavate. They may also be used in mining industries and archaeology digs. They come with wheels or tracks; however, this depends on the manufacturer. Excavators come in varying sizes, and there are different types of excavators; you have to choose the kind that can do what you need. There is the crawler excavator used primarily on mining cases, the dragline excavator used in underwater cases, long reach excavator used for digging, mini-excavator used mostly on landscaping jobs or sites that are narrow, wheeled excavator which has wheels in place of tracks and suction excavator used to clear debris or in under-ground projects.

  • Forklift

This equipment is used majorly in warehouses to haul goods a short distance. A steering wheel controls the forklift. They are of various types, such as warehouse forklifts, side loaders, counterbalance forklifts, industrial forklifts, etc.
