November 22, 2022

The boys were starting to get a little bored working on the 48 chevy,so we bought a 2001 f 150 to flip and the boys got real excited aboutit they could see things happeninga lot faster, they went with us to check it out at first they just kinda said it aint much of a truck, the sellers wife met us out in the yard when I asked her for the keys to start the truck she said ohh it runs really good so I asked her againfor the key she says well it wont start so I was like then it don t run, she says well my husband has todo something under the hood with a screwdriver, well it being a ford I already figured it to be the starter solenoid but I wasn t going to jump it post on the solenoid so she called her husband and he came and and started the truck jumping across the post it did run pretty good, then I realized I had forgot to get the cash from the house so I told them I did and I would call them the next morning to let them know what we decided about buying it, and dang ya know what that night they sent me a message and dropped the asking price on it, the next morning we decided to get the truck but told them they had to deliver it, then the boys got to start working on the truck the first thing we did was to go get a starter solenoid and put that on, they were grinning like a possum when it started, now the boysare doing all the work I am just standing there pointing and telling them what to do, next came drainingthe coolant, then draining the oiland changing the oil, now they arereally getting excited because they are actually doing mechanic stuff and getting dirty, then I showed them how to drain the transmission pan and how slow of a process that canbe then the complete removal of the trans.

Pan and pulling out the filter and installing the new filter, now in the process of checking the truck out before we bought it the seller told us we would have to change the rear end ou because it was making a lot of noise and he threw in
an extra rear end to do it with.

So we got to checking out the rear end and found out that the pinon shaft nut was loose so we took it all a
part and pulled out the oil seal and bearings the bearings were worn o
ut nut not beat up, so we replaced
the bearings and oil seal tightend
it all up, then off came the rear p
late we looked over the gears and n
o bluing from being over heated no
chips or broken teeth in the gears
, so now then the new gasket and pu
t it all back together filled every
thing back up with all the fluids f
ront to back. The next weekend w
e got together again looking over t
he paint and got to looking at it r
eal close and we all started laughi
ng somebody had painted the front e
nd with house paint, so they went t
o work sanding it down the bare met
al , the rest of the truck just got
a rough sanding then wet sanding ta
ping and papered the truck primed i
t wet sanded again, the following w
eekend we painted it and got disapp
ointed the paint orange peeled so w
et sanding again and buffing and po
lishing it , I found out later why
it orange peeled I had never used a
gravity feed spray gun before so we
were trying tospray it like we wer
e using a siphon gun and we were to
far from the truck so that was a le
aring experience for all of us usin
g a gravity feed gun.
